About

The Naked Soul is a blog about my spiritual journey. First I should define “spiritual”, spiritual in the sense that I will be using it, does not have anything to do with any “ism” or organized religion. I am not a subscriber to any one organized belief. The naked soul is a reference to me, my soul, me spirit, my energy. It is the evolution of my awareness of my soul and the detachment of my ego. A fully aware soul, with a detachment from a ego is in essccence a naked soul.

Please understand that this is a journey of awareness and understanding with a concious effort from me to bare my soul and not let my ego get in my way.

I will be exploring the essence of me, which means that I will be writing about various subjects that affect my life and understanding of my soul. Therefore I am open to talk about a wide range of subjects, some of the subjects that I will speak to will be love, relationships, connectivity, the ego, the soul, eternal life.

I want you to join me as I take this journey of awareness and detachment. I am very open to your constructive feedback and I look forward to learning from those of you who choose to follow my evolutionary progress as I live the life of a naked soul. I am open for my thoughts to be challenged, for out of challenge I will grow.

I have no idea where else to post this. but I truly enjoy your perspective. I find I agree with some and of course have a difference of opinion on others. I’m currently reading a book called Urban Shaman… it fascinates me. And I actually thought… I wonder what “he” would think. Strange as I barely know you. But I believe I should say thank you…. your perspective has been enlightening.

I enjoy reading your blog and I am sorry about your mother’s passing.
I was reading the comments and I understand what you mean by labeling. People are easy to sit in judgment, by our position in the world , our outward appearance, etc. I never realized to how visual people are, everything is about a image, either positive or negative. I do believe when writing without placing a name and place to it, it allows you total freedom.I lived in isolation for many years, 14 to be exact, with no neighbors, no friends, no family. You become very in tune to your surroundings. I found it to be an experience that was a trial that teetered on the minimum existence and a awakening.
The older you get the more you realize how short life is. Allow laughter in your heart to release your soul from yesterdays luggage.

And not only did I find a post today about that very thing, but I found that you recently lost your mom (I’m so sorry), just as the one year anniversary of my own mom’s death this month approaches. I know we do not agree on some things, but I so respect your approach and loving nature. And I will certainly give the “no accidents” thing much more consideration after this! (-;

I could present myself and how i found ur blog, but that would be wasting time. In short, i’d like to know what’s up with this crap of “journey of the soul” and all that… seriously, i’d really like to know what convinced you to believe in all that spiritual stuff. i’m just a regular 16 year old guy (im mentally stable dont worry) with my whole life ahead of me and from time to time i lay back and look at the big picture and wonder wuts up with life and all. you feel me? apparently your not christian or anything so you don’t believe in God? Why? in short, write to me and explain what convinced you to believe in what u believe. thank you, i’d apreciate alot.

  22. Sebastian,
I appreciate your interest and questions. To call someone elses thoughts “crap” is an interesting approach. Not sure why you chose to do this and at the same time seek to understand, however seeking is a positive step. I find it interesting that you believe from what you have read that I am not Christian or anything and that I don’t believe in God. I don’t believe I have said either about what I am. As you read my writings you will discover that I do not like the use of lables such as Christian, Agnostice, Jew, Muslim, etc, I feel that all of these type of labels are limiting for both myself and the reader.
I do believe in a source, a source which we all emenate from. Some call this source God, to me that is just a lable, a human way to understand that which we cannot explain.
You ask me to write and explain why I believe what I believe. That is a great question, however the answer is too long for an answer to a comment. I believe if you read through the 200 plus posts on this blog you will begin to gain an understanding of who I am and why I believe as I do.
I look forward to your future comments.
Peace and love be with you.
Be true to yourself and do not allow your ego to control you. You know who you really are, honor and love that true self.

    Hi there.

Another impulse propelled me farther today. I tried to google a way to connect with my soul (as I feel I once again lost that percievable connection), and I found this place.

First of all, I’d like to thank you for taking such an open stance. Personally, I was baptized, but was not raised religiously, and eventually called myself an atheist. Then agnostic.

Later I decided that I would not limit myself to labels and worship a part of spirituality, but I would study, reflect and create a definition of a God that made sense to me. Because even if there is no perfect definition, the journey is worth it.

I’m sure one day I’ll complete my definition, but as far as I know that’s decades away. I’m not even in my 20’s yet.

I feel I should mention what spurred my interest in spirituality, for context. I had an epiphany some time ago, but I did not understand it. The feeling disappeared the next day, to return several times later. I frantically tried to understand what happened, and in my hurry, I made many mistakes and assumptions. The biggest one: I completely failed to even consider the idea that I’m not the only one. I thought I had to go out there, dissect my epiphany in public, and tell the world how to save itself.

“The Zone”. “Flow”. “Flow-Consciousness”. “Optimal Experience.”
That’s what I experienced during my epiphany, and several times afterwards. I tried to bring the flow to myself, and in the process I disconnected from it fully. Luckily, I leaned many things, and experienced things that many people do not even realize exist.

And I’ve realized many things. I am lucky. Very lucky. I have choice.

I also realized that the more I know, and the more I experience, the more choice I have.

On and off, I’m studying various things too few people have put it in writing:
Pre-life, after-life and reincarnation; lucid dreaming; various states of consciousness; optimal experience (flow); and the fact that there is more to reality than meets the eye.

Did you know that in a recent Scientific American issue, one group of researchers claimed that what we see is but one of millions of realities that our brain interprets? But it selects only one.

My own opinions hover above right, wrong, socially acceptable or not, because I remember making the basis for this rule:
    Nothing Is Impossible.

The catch: you don’t know what IS. We cannot observe our universe from the outside, but only from the inside. We can’t feel the rain outside if we’re sleeping peacefully in the basement. And we can’t see anything until we turn the light on.

That’s just the way we are, and the sooner we accept our limitations, the sooner we will percieve reality as it is. In my humble opinion.

Thanks, tobeme, for putting a part of yourself online. I’m looking forward to reading your blogs and getting an idea of who you are as a person, and as a soul. And at the end of the universe, I’ll meet you at the Four Winds Bar, and buy you a drink.

First, welcome to the Naked Soul. I appreciate you taking time to leave a comment. It is good to hear that you have disgarded lables and try not to be limited by them.
I think that as you go further down the rabbit hole you will find that all limitations are a product of our mind and nothing more than that. There are no limits per se. I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts as you read through my writings and as you travel on your journey. I will take you up on that drink! Thanks for all of your thoughts.

I think you would receive too many emails because what you write is very accessible to applicable to all who are ready for the journey. So, instead, I will ask you the questions I would’ve put in a more private email.

I was wondering though…….and have since I stumbled onto your site…….are you a counsellor? Facilitator? Have you published your work? I ask because I see similar threads and themes in your writing. I am both a counsellor and facilitator with a strong desire to write on the same kind of topics you do……one of my goals is to pull together some of my work and then seek out a publisher….. to let my writing lead my journey and work towards a career change which would include coaching and consulting work.

I am not asking for help………just intrigued that perhaps I have found someone else with the same interests and career path?

  38. I was reading the comments and the fact that you like to remain in anonymous state. I find that people are quick to judge to either limit or set unrealistic expectations on a person. I always felt fairly average and those who were closest to me said ” you are far from average” A nake soul it is those I believe that fall within the kindred spirits that can truly see another human being from the inside. Yet I have experience how at one glimpse of a person instantly an image is formed. Who you are , status, ability, etc. I have always found this completely frustrating and yet these limitaions are an ongoing experience in life. I know we all come into life to experience and we all shall leave this body behind and that is all one can really be assured of. But I am also aware that when I am wearing a suit dress that I am more likely to be respected then in a t shirt and jeans. Simple steps of respect that I have experienced shaking of hands to simply personal advantages better treatment in shops and resturants. Life can be cruel to the disadvantaged and all it feels like a huge game at times, reinventing of self. I agree that your writing stands on its own merit, as you have removed your outer being as
a measure of determining your qualifications to expres yourself.

I have not been published. I too desire to go the route of publishing my work. I have not yet pursued this path. The one thing that I am struggling with is how to organize what I write in a manner that would flow well in a book.
You have a great talent for writing, I encourage you to keep moving towards getting published. I would love to share anything each of us may find as we travel the path of a writer.

I appreciate your understanding. As time goes on, I feel that I am ready to reveal more of my physical self. I do believe that most people do make decisions based on physical appearance. I often question the concept of placing ones picture on the back cover of a book. Many people are instantly turned off because of gender or outward appearance before they even attempt to read the content of the book.

  42. I stumbled across your blog — I find your openmindedness refreshing and sympathise with your spiritual quest. I’m currently reading Dawkins’ The God Delusion, and although I object to the terms of his argument (spirituality stems from experience, not belief) it’s forcing me to think about what I actually do believe in — if not a supernatural God, then what? What exactly is out there (and in us) and will scientists one day be able to quantify it?

I’ve recently started a blog with a spiritual theme, Inspired Shopping, and would be extremely grateful if you’d consider including it in your blogroll. It’s about an approach to shopping that I developed very gradually and accidentally. I’ve long been an admirer of Shakti Gawain, and I’ve combined her insights on intuition with twelve-step principles and mindfulness in my shopping life and found I’m more likely to buy the things I want and need. I would love people to try out the ideas and see if they help them become better shoppers.

  51. Hi Mark,

Can you participate with us in our June 10 Amazon campaign? It’s incredibly easy…and here’s what you’ll get in return:

    1) A free empowering and liberating MP3 audio album
    2) Downstream revenue from referral sales
    3) Potential traffic from over 5 million offer recipients
    4) The opportunity to make a true difference in people’s lives!

My name is Eric and I work with best-selling author Guy Finley at his renowned center for self-study, non-profit Life of Learning Foundation. Chances are you’ve seen or heard about Guy through some of the large retail booksellers:

“Guy Finley has helped millions live fuller, more peaceable lives.”

    Barnes & Noble Booksellers

Now Guy has a brand new book coming out in June called “The Essential Laws of Fearless Living.” Already there’s a great buzz circulating about it:

“If you are seeking personal or spiritual fulfillment it doesn’t get any better than Guy Finley’s, Essential Laws of Fearless Living. Read it. Internalize it and then enjoy it, this information has given me everything I have today.”

Bob Proctor, Author of You Were Born Rich, ss seen in the movie The Secret

For this new book we’re planning an Ama*zon campaign on a massive scale. Not only are we targeting the #1 spot on Ama*zon, but we’re confident the book will be launched onto the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal best-seller lists as well.

Some of the biggest names in the industry will be partnering with us in this campaign: media powerhouse Gaiam, Centerpointe Research Institute/Holosync, BleepStore/Betsy Chasse, Mike Litman, Joe Vitale, DailyOM, Learning Strategies Corporation, SuccessUniversity, LearnOutLoud, Ironweed Films, (and many more), and we’re inviting you to be part of it too.

As a partner you’ll see tremendous benefits from your participation. Here’s how it works:

    1) On the day of the campaign (Tuesday June 10th), you agree to post our special book offer notice on your blog and notify your subscriber list. Our other partners will do the same. Altogether we estimate 5 million people will receive our email.

    2) In return you’ll get one of Guy Finley’s most popular audio albums that are now available as MP3 Downloads! Choose from any of these authentically powerful albums shown here:

    http://www.guyfinley.com/Book_Store/MP3_Audio_Downloads.php4

    3) Every person from your list who clicks thru to read about our offer will get flagged as your referral, and you’ll receive affiliate commissions from all orders they place with us in the future. The commission is 50% of their first order, and 10% of all future orders — generating a long-term source of revenue for you.

    4) You’ll get to feature your name and bonus gift (if you have one) on our campaign landing page.

Plus, there’s very little work to do on your part. We’ll take care of virtually all the details. You just need to provide us with your bonus gift and post our announcement notice on Tuesday June 10th.

If you wish, I can forward a sampler PDF from the “Fearless Living” book in case you want to see more about it. And down below I’ve pasted a few more samples of the great feedback and endorsements we’ve received from other top experts.

Please confirm as soon as possible that you would like to participate so that I can reserve a spot for you. Also, please feel free to contact me with any questions.

“This truly is the best of Guy Finley… beautifully designed by a modern master to bring out the best in YOU!”

I l landed on to your blog through the wordpress dashboard and could see that we do have some common people between us like Sanity Found. I do feel some of the thoughts that you have mentioned on here would be something that I would have echoed as well. Felt a lot of similarity, would be sure a regular reader here. Great Blog – keep it up!

I’m fascinated by your beautiful blog! I wondered if you’d be interested in a book I have commissioned, which aims to make the Sacred Text of Jesus accessible to spiritual seekers from all walks of life. In short, the book gives fresh access to the stories of Jesus by weaving modern day writings and images throughout the Sacred Texts. Writings include meditations, prayers of harmony, beautiful poetry and topical articles, which help to give a broader perspective on certain relevant issues in the Texts. Some of the topics include: Crystals, Angels, the Environment, Wisdom and Astrology.

Let me know if you’d be keen to see the sample chapter or talk about it more. Here is the web link- http://jjsolutions.wordpress.com/projects/book-awaken-the-spirit/

If its not your thing, that’s ok.

    Blessings and peace,
    Jay

  68. You are an aweseome writer. I read one of your comments on a single mom blog, and it was so clear, insightful, wise, lucid. It’s the type of writing I aspire to whenever I pen serious thoughts.

I’m looking forward to checking out your blog.

    Hello Mark,
I somehow found your blog a little while ago and am very grateful that I did. I believe there is a Buddhist saying, something like, ” when a student is ready a teacher will appear” and you are a wonderful teacher though I am afraid I have much to learn! Thank you for wriitng about and sharing your thoughts.
