Intuitive Truth

“Life cannot wait until the sciences may have explained the universe scientifically. We cannot put off living until we are ready” – Jose Ortega y Gasset

If we wait for absolute proof of everything, we will miss so very much. As a society we are hungry for answers. We are hungry for all kinds of answers, answers to the mundane all the way up to answers to the purpose of life, answers about what happens after this life is over, etc. As a society many people are spending a great deal of energy on scientific research to validate everything. For many people things must be proven scientifically before they will accept them.

The unfortunate truth for many is that often the proof they seek is internal, it is intuitive truth. This is unfortunate because so many people don’t understand or believe that all the truths they need reside within their very self. Intuitive truth is not something that you can chart on a piece of paper or build a model to represent. Intuitive truth is a knowing, a wisdom that is ingrained upon your soul. True, for many, intuitive truth may be buried deep under their surface learning and it may indeed be shrouded by their ego, however it is there.  Most people know that intuitive truth is there, they often hear it as a voice that bubbles up within them, however they often dismiss this internal voice as wrong or as uninformed and they choose to seek out an external proof for what they intuitively know.

The dilemma of course is that some things will never be proven by external means. This waiting for “scientific” proof often leads to frustration, depression, etc as one searches for that which is not to be found outside of ones self.

When we choose to turn inward and learn to trust our internal wisdom, our intuitive truths and let go of the need for everything to be proven or explained we then find an incredible peace. When you do this you may initially be greeted with a flood of truths to the point where you may feel overwhelmed. Again, the key is to allow your thoughts to flow, trust in your intuition, trust in the wisdom which has be written upon your soul and you will rejoice in knowing that you are truly living and not waiting in the wings for someone else’s validation.

The other aspect of truth we get hung on, is who’s truth is correct. That answer to that is not as complicated as we make it out to be, it really is rather simple. The correct truth is always YOUR truth!

  1. Dear mark,

I am in tune with this post. It’s true for me and you have – as always – found a professional way to wrap it up in a clear and understandable language. Thanks for the post.

  2. Human beings will justify and rationalize what they desire to see and experience. If your ego controls you, then you’re apt to be content with the idea you will always want more, or need to know more. As you evolve to where the ego plays a lesser role in your life, you will begin to discover the greatest mystery of all is the inner self. This is something you can explore and learn about forever, even though, somewhere, deep down, you may already know all there is to know.

  4. I still think there needs to be a “reference point” or standard for determining what is the truth. Cos even as we live in a globalise world which emphasizes alot on practising global standards in doing business, trading, use of language and etc.. Likewise, we need to have a globally recognised standard for truth.

If not, truth if determined by individuals would be subjective and bias.

Imagine if we have no government and it did not sanction laws, our society would be choatic.

So there needs a institution/body that would be recognised by people as the authority of what is truth so that all can follow.

  5. We only agree on anything because we acknowledge the equal validity of one another’s perceptions. If I can point to an object in so-called material space and you agree it is real on the basis of your shared perception, how is that different from being told where and how to look within to confirm knowledge? We co-create reality, and there is no limitation in describing it, but the scientistic view rejects all that cannot be measured by inanimate instruments.

  6. On the one hand I would say we should not confuse ‘knowing’ with ‘knowledge’, or vice versa. On the other hand, that we must not see them seperately as they are one….The dualisme Descartes introduced has not brought us a lot of good….
‘Like you, I believe in the importance of an open-minded inquiry into the unknown’, biologist Rupert Sheldrake, known for his research on morphogenic fields, puts it eloquently in a letter to Deepak Chopra. Only few scientists have this teachable approach to Life. Most science has become wornout . Let us not dismiss of science for its arrogance, its self-proclaimed objectivity and omniscience. The Dutch have a saying: Do not throw away the child along with the bath water. Let us instead welcome an integral science in which intuitive knowing leads to truly creative insights and ideas, in which knowledge is used to heal this planet and its inhabitants.

“you may feel overwhelmed” oh yes I can relate to that. Once we blow our mind open to receiving our natural intuition we realize that we have not been in charge of our own lives for a very long time, if ever.
It shakes us to realize that the ego and other outside influences have created a reality for us that is almost foreign when we get honest with our intuition. And to maintain true to yourself through the process of self realization is hard because everyone around you is saying “Who are you? And what did you do with my wife, mother, friend, daughter etc.” It’s a tough go alone for awhile, I just believe and pray ALOT.
    Amen.

  8. My perspective is somewhat different than some who have left comments. Science is not the enemy, it’s just elementary. The focus of my studies in college was the relationship between science/technology and society. I also work in the field of ethics and research. History shows that science is notoriously slow at revealing “truths”. It is true that some scientists (and I know many) are exceptionally closed-minded, but that does not mean that science is closed-minded, science is merely a method for the discovery and validation of findings. Science is only as good and accurate as the people behind it as well as the technology available to observe and measure phenomena. In addition to my day job which includes regular interaction with scientists and scholars, I am also a practitioner of energy medicine. I think it is needless to say that few of my colleagues are aware of my “hobby”. Who knows if the technology will ever be available to record what occurs during the subtle energy flux occurring during and after an energy healing treatment or that which may be called unembodied consciousness. I think if more people truly understood what science is and how it works, as well as the history of the religions they follow (and various other topics), they might feel more confident in their own experiences and seeking their own truths.

Brilliantly insightful. We wait for answers from others because we don’t trust what’s in our Soul. We pick a flower and we wait for someones else to explain why?

It all comes down to trust and knowing that we exist for a reason – to explore this human space.

  11. I spent a life time searching, especially through religion, but to no avail. A few years ago I finally found my source of love and truth.

Since I am not a writer..this sage quote expresses it perfectly for me:

“You’ve always had the power, my dear. You’ve had it all along.”
~Glenda, the good witch from The Wizard of Oz.

So very simple..yet so very true. :)

  13. and the truth shall set you free………..

Intuition is my bread and butter as a counsellor. I’m a puzzle person (though in all honesty, I hate putting jigsaws together…) who gravitated into the world of counselling because I love a good mystery and I’m nosey I guess. I’velearned over the years that one doesn’t EVER receive all the puzzle pieces. And yet, one has to lead and ask questions, and go with the gut feeling in order to assist someone in their journey to insight and healing.

We never have all the puzzle pieces. Life just doesn’t provide them all. Perhaps God keeps a couple of them to Himself as a motivator for us to figure it out……..to keep striving and moving forward in our journey. I don’t know.

I have been asleep at the wheel in the past. I have been so lacksadaisical that I wasn’t even looking for the truth…..for the puzzle pieces. I was just going through the motions, with no solid foundation in spiritual faith either. When I finaly woke up again a couple of years ago, it was a jolt of realization that my truth and my way of being all came from within.

As always Mark………very thought provoking post. I’m loving your site friend. I often feel more juiced up to write my own stuff after reading your thoughts. thank you for sharing them so freely.

  14. Yes – we’re here, we’re living and breathing. If we wait for some external form of validation, or, worse, pretend we’ve got that – that we know it all and have apprehended absolute truth in a way that gives us license or an obligation to try to impose it on others – then we’re kidding ourselves and sowing seeds of strife.

From a practical standpoint, such as goverment, society and laws, I agree there must be some agreed upon standards, however that is not what we speak of today.
You are right, everyonespersonal truth is subjective. This is how it is designed to be, for we are all at different points in our journey.
    Thanks for your thoughts.

I love what you have shared. Very true, science and intuitive thought must work together to reveal the wonders of who we are. Not thowing the baby out with the bath water was a saying in my house growing up, it is very appropriate for this discussion. Thank-you for all of the value that you add.

You make some excellent points. I agree, science is not the enemy. We benifit from science every day and in so many ways. Sceince as you said is a slow process, the key is we cannot wait for everything to be proved before we choose to believe. Thanks for sharing and adding value to this conversation.

What you say is true, many times it does not seem that we are afforded all of the peices to the puzzle. I think in reality we have all the peieces however we have not figured out how they fit together.
